The Disease Is Not Contagious, But The Bacteria May Be Spread Through Saliva    




Periodontal disease signs are bleeding or swollen gums and bad breath. It is caused by an inflammatory reaction to a bacteria in the mouth. However, is it contagious? The inflammatory reaction is not, but the bacteria can be spread through saliva. People with a poor immune system or injuries in the mouth cavities have to be more careful to avoid contagion, so it is a good idea not to share eating utensils or glassware.
